LTE Network Architecture Deep Dive | RAN, EPC, Interfaces & Cloud EPC | 4G E2E Signaling Session 3 (Video)

Welcome back to the 4G End-to-End Signaling Free Course – Session 3.
In this session, we build the foundation for understanding LTE signaling by explaining the 4G LTE architecture, the role of each major EPC node, and how different network elements communicate with each other.

You will learn the function of key LTE network nodes including eNB, MME, SGW, PGW, HSS, PCRF, and EIR, along with the main LTE interfaces and protocols such as Uu, S1-MME, S1-U, X2, S5/S8, S6a, Gx, and SGi. This session also introduces the difference between control plane and user plane, physical vs logical interfaces, and the evolution from legacy EPC to virtualized EPC and cloud-native EPC.

In this session:
- LTE RAN and EPC architecture overview
- eNB, MME, SGW, PGW, HSS, PCRF, EIR functions
- LTE control plane vs user plane
- LTE interfaces: Uu, S1, X2, S5/S8, S6a, Gx, SGi
- LTE protocols: RRC, S1AP, GTP-U, Diameter, TCP/UDP over IP
- Logical vs physical interfaces
- EPC virtualization, VNFs, containers, cloud-native EPC
- Intro to cloud computing in telecom networks
